I began my working life as a Human Resources & Training Manager and then as a Business English Teacher before an enforced “career break” thanks to an international move with my husband’s job finally gave me the once in a lifetime opportunity that I had been looking for……….the time, money and energy to do exactly what I wanted in life – work with dogs!
I went straight back to school and started studying with the Animal Care College in the UK where I completed three Canine Psychology courses and an Advanced Canine Nutrition course. In 2006, I was accepted onto the prestigious International Dog Trainer’s School run by Sheila Harper, one of the leading Dog Trainers and Behaviourists in the UK. Learning about Sheila’s unique approach to working with dogs was nothing short than a life changing experience. I have also attended many short courses on various aspects of dog training run by Turid Rugaas, Sally Askew, Nicole Frolich, Terry Ryan, Roger Abrantes and Ian Dunbar.
During my time studying, I accumulated plenty of practical experience. I ran a dog activity group called “K9 Kapers” while in Malaysia and worked with Bernice Muntz at the Hondenschool Vlietstede for nearly 3 years while in Holland. I competed in the Dutch National Flyball league and in Doggiedance competitions with my own dog at the time, Elgin.
I realised my dream when I returned to France, in September 2006, and set up my own dog owner’s training school “Dog’sCool”, using a truly positive approach. Then in May 2010 we were on the move again to Perth, Australia, where I did some work as a dog trainer for the RSPCA and took my new puppy, Sox to his Tracking Dog title with the Australian Kennel Club. As I had some spare time I also started a Foundation Degree in Advanced Canine Behaviour Management with COMPASS which I hope to complete this summer.
I devote some of my free time to rescue helping rehabilitate dogs with A.P.A.C.S an charitable association that rehomes Rough Collies and Shetlands. Their website is: http://www.collieandsheltie-rescue.sheepdog.eu.
I live in Usson, with my French husband Michel, Sox the dog, 2 cats, 2 goats and some chickens.
